OPERATION SPARTACUS
Tom Turco works at the Ulster County Board of Elections in Kingston, NY.
Tom explained all necessary rules in signing up new Voters, and getting our petitions signed by the necessary constituency.
It seems that the higher powers were determined to keep the comptroller position a one man race unopposed, with no chance of allowing anyone to challenge

Title 18, code 595
The 37 year reigning conservative chairman hastily called a last minute village/ town/ county conservative caucus last night in the Town of Wawarsing
Only two County Conservative Committee members showed up
Chairman Ed Gaddy and Committee member Jack Hayes
It was arranged to have retired state trooper Hayes and the incumbent comptroller get nominated, and then redirect my endorsement to either one of them
But it backfired after it was put to a vote, that candidates from outside parties who don't show up, cannot be nominated
I pointed out to Mr. Gaddy that by his own by laws, for the last three weeks, he was obligated to have my petitions signed together with the other endorsed conservative, simultaneously, and not to have his own personal feelings corrupt the petition process
Until my endorsement is rescinded by a committee vote, Mr. Gaddy is obligated to instruct his subordinates to garner signatures impartially and equally for conservative candidate Mary Warrow as well as myself non discriminatorily
After 37 years of Controlling the Ulster County Conservative " swing vote" it is quite possible that Mr. Gaddy may have to step down in order to maintain the integrity of the NYS Conservative party
I demanded his resignation

ULSTER COUNTY COMPTROLLER HOPEFUL LISA CUTTEN GETS AXED
BY COUNTY EXECUTIVE PAT RYAN
Kingston, New York - July 11, 2019 - At 9am on Tuesday July 2nd, Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan fired Lisa Cutten, a Certified Public Accountant and the Director of Accountability, Compliance and Efficiency for the County. There was no stated cause for this action. Considering recent events, questions are begged. At the June 27th Democratic caucus held to decide who the Comptroller candidate would be and, in the days following, there were extraordinarily glowing comments and praise of Lisa’s work in providing accountability and integrity as a dedicated public servant in Ulster County. She was also praised for running a clean campaign in her pursuit to be the Democratic candidate for Comptroller.
The Ulster County Comptroller duties are to be the Chief Auditing Officer defined by the Charter as adopted by the voters. As a result of the timing of departure of the elected Comptroller, the normal petition and primary process for political parties’ candidates was not available. The Ulster County Democratic Committee, made up of about 320 committee people from around the County, held a caucus to determine their candidate by the casting of weighted votes. Roughly 160 Democrats of the 120,000 voters in Ulster County chose a candidate to be that Chief Auditing Officer in the County who has never spent a single day as an auditor. Lisa Cutten, a CPA since 1983, who has been an auditor for thousands of days, was the candidate not chosen through this process.
Lisa stated throughout her campaign that she knows the County’s books and the County’s operation. She has been working for the County since 2011 as the Comptroller’s Senior Auditor, Deputy Budget Director and the Director of Accountability, Compliance & Efficiency, and previously served as the County Auditor. Lisa was also the person who stopped payments to Lower Esopus Riverwatch, who stole hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money. The action to fire Lisa just 3 business days after her unsuccessful bid to be the Democratic Comptroller candidate speaks volumes about the newly elected County Executive and his commitment to accountability, integrity and decency.
Why doesn’t Pat Ryan want the person who can follow the money on his team? Or was his action political retribution because Lisa had the audacity to run for the nomination even though she wasn’t a political insider? As Lisa stated many times in her bid to be the Comptroller candidate, her commitment to making a difference in people’s lives through responsible local government finance and auditing has never wavered through the years, no matter the personal attacks by political operatives. Lisa is presently considering her options.
